The importance and necessity of introducing the random field theory into the reliability analysis of offshore structure foundations were depicted. The testing method for verifying the stationarity and ergodicity of soil profile was recommended. Based on a great deal of geotechnical investigations, the stationarity and ergodicity of a soil profile in the SZ36-1 oil field were examined and a random field model was established. The correlation function, correlation distance and variation reliability function of the SZ36-1 oil field were simulated. As an example, the reliable analysis of an ocean oil platform foundation was described.
