摘要

The main issue in physically based modelling is the multitude of parameters required, whose arbitrary estimation for large river basins challenges the physically based approach. Philip's infiltration equation, derived from Richard's equation, balances physically based approach and parameterisation requirements in an optimal way. The implementation of Philip's equation into Peschke's time-shift algorithm allows to take the time-dependent response of soil to canopy precipitation into account. This approach results in a description of infiltration that is both physically based and suitable for mesoscale parameterisation. The test results of the newly developed infiltration module, implemented in the hydrological modelling system PANTA RHEI, are promising: Fine-grained soils exhibit limited infiltration because their saturated hydraulic conductivity is low, and runoff forms from infiltration excess. Coarse-grained soils fully infiltrate canopy precipitation.
