摘要

This study proposes a technique for the discrete injection of electro-osmotically-driven sample flows in a microfluidic device. The numerical results confirm that the sample plug flow can be produced by electrokinetically pre-focusing and switching, and then guided to the desired outlet port by means of a simple control voltage model. The results show that a microfluidic chip is capable not only of generating a single length plug sample flow to a specified output port, but is also able to generate a series of different length plug samples. Utilizing electrokinetically pre-focused micro flow switching, two grounding times (1.4 and 1.8 s) are assigned to cycle in reservoir 1, two different sample lengths are generated in channel-a. The results of this study provide a useful methodology for the analysis of flow control in microfluidic devices.
