An innovative integrated two-phase anaerobic digestion technology for agricultural wastes was investigated. The performance of this new technology treating wheat straw, fruit and vegetable wastes was conducted at mesophilic condition. Anaerobic granular sludge was used as inocula. The reactor had been operated continuously for 25 periods. The largest volatile solids load in the reactor was 1.47 kg&middot(m3&middotd)-1. The soluble chemical oxygen demand removal rate achieved 85%, and the methane production yield achieved 0.48 m3 (standard condition) per kilogram volatile solids. The maximum daily gas production rate, the acidification rate and volatile solids removal efficiency achieved 3.03 m3&middot(m3&middotd)-1 (standard condition), 58% and 85%, respectively. The process can effectively achieve solid-liquid separation of materials, improvement of mass transfer efficiency, and difficulty producing scum. And it can increase the concentration of anaerobic microorganisms by the separation of solid retention time, hydraulic retention time and microbes stay time.
