摘要

In this article, a novel modified stimulus signal is used to improve the accuracy of localizing discontinuities for time-domain reflectometry (TDR) measurements. This pulse shaping puts more energy at higher frequencies in contrast with conventional step or impulse TDR. Hence, a wider bandwidth is available to achieve higher accuracy for precise spatial localization. The proposed modified TDR is less expensive than a vector network analyzer, very practical as it is based on more realistic signals rather than assuming ideal impulses or steps. Simulated and measured results are presented to validate the accuracy of the proposed approach.
