Elucidating the microstructures and microwave dielectric properties of ZnNiTiO4 ceramics

The microwave dielectric properties of ZnNiTiO4 ceramics were investigated with a view to the use of such ceramics in mobile communication. ZnNiTiO4 ceramics were prepared using the conventional solid-state method with various sintering temperatures and sintering times. A maximum relative density of 97.20 % was obtained by sintering ZnNiTiO4 ceramic at 1550 A degrees C for 2 h. Dielectric constants (E > (r) ) of 16.5-17.1 and a quality factor (Q x f) of 26,000-31,700 GHz were obtained at sintering temperatures in the range 1450-1600 A degrees C for 2 h. Dielectric constants (E > (r) ) of 17.0-17.1 and a quality factor (Q x f) of 21,000-31,700 GHz were obtained at sintering times in the range 1-4 h at a sintering temperature of 1550 A degrees C. A dielectric constant (E > (r) ) of 17.1, a quality factor (Q x f) of 31,700 GHz, and a temperature coefficient of resonant frequency (tau (f) ) of -46 ppm/A degrees C were obtained when ZnNiTiO4 ceramics were sintered at 1550 A degrees C for 2 h.
