摘要

In the context of this work we present static experimental tests on nitrile-based elastomeric radial lip seals under different radial loads and with different temperatures. The outcomes of these experiments have been used to calibrate a three-dimensional finite element model for performing static analyses of a radial lip seal. Experimental results also provide an assessment of the ability of the Mooney-Rivlin constitutive model to represent the behavior of elastomeric material of the radial lip. Once calibrated, the finite element model has been used to investigate the relation between contact pressure and static design parameters, such as interference and radial offset.
