摘要

For the mechanism of the existing flame stabilization in combustion using bluff-body burners, the initial flow of fuel was preheated by the recirculation of high temperature flue gas so as to introduce earlier ignition and enhance combustion, and thus the flame was stabilized. However, in that case some functions existing in the recirculation region were not yet exerted. A new mechanism of combustion using slitted bluff-body burners is proposed in this study. The main idea is to cut a slit at the center of the bluff-body and deliver small amount of fuel and air to the recirculation region so as to ignite it in the most favorable environment to form a pilot flame, which in turn ignites the main stream by naked flame. As a result, the passive heat source of the recirculation region is changed into the active heat source, and the effect of flame stabilization on the main stream region exerted by the recirculation region is greatly increased. In this paper, the mechanism of combustion using slitted bluff-body burners and the related experimental results are discussed.
