摘要

Elicitation is one of the methods used for increasing the production or accumulation of secondary metabolites. The present study investigates the effect of time and concentration of methylviologen (paraquat) as abiotic elicitor on the flavonolignan production by Silybum marianum callus and suspension cultures. The cultures were cultivated on a Murashige-Skoog medium with addition of 10 mg l(-1) of I-naphthylacetic acid. The content of flavonolignans was determined by HPLC. The maximal content of flavonolignans was obtained at the methylviologen concentration in callus cultures c = 2.19- 10(-4) mol l(-1). The production of flavonolignans in suspension culture was little influenced by elicitation.
