摘要

This paper presents a design method of an LED freeform lens based on Cartesian Oval. The Cartesian Ovals array is introduced to compose a faceted surface for isometric point source and to establish the coupling correspondence between discrete target points and the associated rays on each facet of the Cartesian Oval. With the coupling correspondence, a smooth mapping between the entire source domain and the entire target domain is generated through interpolation method. After converting the mapping for a Lambertian point source, we construct a freeform lens accordingly and make the ray-tracing simulation in ASAP. The simulation result indicates a clear rectangular light pattern, with 87.9% illuminance uniformity and 98.9% light output efficiency, regardless of Fresnel loss.
