摘要
An instructor can easily prepare an inexpensive polytetrafluoroethylene-sealed vial for delivery of bromine. The reaction design allows students to safely handle bromine outside a fume hood. Students are able to see and handle bromine and watch it being consumed in the course of a reaction without being directly exposed to it. Experiments take little time to carry out, there is no need for a solvent, and the crude product can be collected directly from the flask.
