The asymmetric unit of the title compound, C11H9N3O2, contains two independent molecules: the dihedral angles between the pyridine ring and the furyl ring are 17.00 (16) and 34.12 (15)degrees. The crystal structure involves intermolecular C-H center dot center dot center dot O, N-H center dot center dot center dot N and N-H center dot center dot center dot O hydrogen bonds.
