Stem Cell Morphophysiology and Umbilical Cord Blood Diagnosis in Bovines During Gestation. Florencia Caqueta, Colombia

The objective of this research was to conduct a morpho physiological characterization of the cells presented in the umbilical cord (CU) and establish blood levels and the diagnosis of anemias presented in the umbilical cord blood (UCB) in cattle during pregnancy. 32 samples of tissue and blood of slaughtered cattle were collected and analyzed, morphological evaluation was performed by Wright staining and the blood values were determined by an automatic counter of hematology Vet BC-2800. In the veterinary clinical laboratory of Universidad de la Amazonia-Colombia. In all the samples stem cells Huvec and Wharton's jelly were identified regardless of the gestation period and the presence of macrocytic anemia normochromic (AMN), as a result of secondary blood loss, with an average of 66.9 (FL) for a mean corpuscular volume (MCV) and 33.2 in mean corpuscular hemoglobin concentration (MCHC). It can be concluded that neonates cattle showed AMN of type non-hematologic because of fetal-maternal hemorrhage (hypoxia), therefore it is recommended to do these types of studies in normal births with appropriate monitoring of pregnant cattle.
