A norm inequality for positive block matrices

摘要

Any positive matrix M = (M-i,M- j)(i, j=1)(m) with each block M-i,M- j square satisfies the symmetric norm inequality parallel to M parallel to <= parallel to Sigma(m)(i=1) M-i,M- i + Sigma(m-1)(i=1)omega I-i parallel to, where omega i(i = 1,..., m-1). involving the width of numerical ranges. This extends the main Mhanna (2017) [4] to a higher number of blocks.
