摘要

Development and mechanism of neutron diffraction strain measurement are introduced. Two pairs of CLAM steel plates were welded with TIG welding in constrained and unconstrained conditions, respectively. And the three-dimensional (3D) strain distribution of the CLAM steel weldments were measured by neutron diffraction. The results show the maximum residual strains are located in the region within about 10mm from weld midline. Longitudinal strains are 2-3 times larger than transverse and normal strains. The maximum value of longitudinal strain in constrained condition is about two-thirds of that in unconstrained condition, but the transverse and normal strains show no obvious differences.
