摘要

Three fledgling Eurasian bullfinches (Pyrrhula pyrrhula) were found disoriented with periocular swellings in Hildesheim (Lower Saxony, Germany). Two birds died immediately and one bird was euthanized due to bad condition, the ocular diseases and the related bad prognosis for a successful rehabilitation. Histopathologic examination revealed lymphohistiocytic and heterophile sinusitis and conjunctivitis. Escherichia coli and Staphylococcus aureus were isolated from these pathologic changes in a bacteriological examination. Mycoplasma gallisepticum could be detected by real-time PCR from the pathologic sinuses.
