摘要

This paper proposes a Peer-to-Peer (P2P) video streaming method for Mobile Ad hoc Network (MANET). Its video streaming uses Multiple Descriptive Coding (MDC) from multiple peers to stream to a single destination using distinct and separate route paths. This method hence spreads the load across multiple sources and multiple paths, hence resulting in an even spread of load and energy use. The novel method is called Energy-Efficient Video Streaming (EEVS) has two parts: an adaptive video data collection method and a streaming method to share the video across the network. The performance of EEVS is compared to other well-known protocols in two different sets of experiments. Firstly, the data collection phase of EEVS is compared against Multiple Video Source Scheduling method (MVSS) and Hybrid Adaptive Search According to Gossip Exchange Method (HAS-A-GEM) that helps to share the information available across the nodes to every other node they meet. Secondly, the streaming phase of EEVS is compared with Enhanced Dynamic Source Routing (EDSR) and Mesh based P2P streaming usingMDC(MP2P+MDC) techniques. The simulation results show that EEVS has approximately 120% and 170% less overheads than HAS-A-GEM and MVSS. The results also show that the EEVS outperforms MP2P+MDC and EDSR by efficiently managing the energy across the nodes and by distributing the load through multiple sources. Hence, this increases the network lifetime. Moreover, the average video quality received in EEVS is 30% more than MP2P+MDC and approximately 50% more than EDSR. Furthermore, the results show that EEVS reduces the streaming delay up to 165% as compared to MP2P+MDC and approximately up to 300% as compared to EDSR.
