摘要

This study is aimed at verifying a strain-based post-earthquake serviceability verification method for steel bridge piers installed with three types of seismic dampers. All the dampers are designed to ensure the maximum response strain meet the requirement of the strain-based method according to performance Level 2 of Japanese specifications, and then the displacement-based verification method is employed to verify whether the requirement to the same performance level can be satisfied. Results indicate that the proposed strain-based verification method is more conservative than the displacement-based verification method in evaluating post-earthquake serviceability, and seismic performance of the retrofitted steel bridge piers is also significantly improved.
