The adsorption of benzethonium chloride from aqueous solutions on the surface of finely dispersed particles of aluminum oxide, titanium dioxide, and zirconium dioxide is investigated. The ratio of the amount of adsorbed benzethonium chloride molecules to the amount of surface hydroxyl groups as potential adsorption sites is proposed to be used for characterizing the structure of adsorption layers. It is shown that the formation of supramolecular structures of benzethonium chloride molecules on solid surfaces begins when its concentrations in suspensions is significantly lower than the critical micellization concentration. It is established that benzethonium chloride is adsorbed via simultaneous interaction of the surfactant molecules with the surface hydroxyl groups and hydrophobic interaction of their hydrocarbon tails; the amounts of molecules adsorbed as a result of these interactions depend on both benzethonium chloride concentration in a solution and the density of the hydroxyl groups on an oxide surface.
