摘要

This article presents a facile method to prepare gold/polystyrene composite microspheres. In this approach, [AuCl4](-) coordinated with allylthiourea (AT) first and then AT co-polymerized with styrene (St) via surfactant-free emulsion polymerization. Polystyrene particles with [AuCl4](-) ions on the surfaces were prepared by this route. Upon subsequently adding sodium borohydride (NaBH4) to the PS emulsion, [AuCl4](-) ions were reduced to zero-valent gold to form the Au/PS composite microspheres consequently. The resulting composite microspheres were characterized by TEM, SEM and XPS. It was found that the composite microspheres exhibit excellent surface enhanced Raman scattering (SERS) property. Also, the as-prepared Au/PS composite microspheres exhibited excellent catalytic property for the degradation of methylene blue (MB). In the presence of the Au/PS composite microspheres, the degradation of MB could reach 96.4% within 10 minutes.
