A novel sandwich-type electrochemiluminescent immunoassay utilizing apoferritin-templated poly(ethylenimine) (PEI) nanoparticles as labels based on the in situ release of the co-reactant of PEI was developed for sensitive detection of HCG with a low detection limit of 0. 17 mu IU mL(-1).
