In this paper, we study the following max-type system of difference equations @@@ x(n) = max{1/y(n-m), alpha(n)/x(n-r)}, y(n) = max{1/x(n-m), beta(n)/y(n-r)}, n = 0, 1, ... , @@@ where alpha(n), beta(n) is an element of (0, 1) are two sequences with sup{max{alpha(n), beta(n)}: n = 0, 1, ... } < 1, r, m is an element of {1, 2, ... } with r not equal m and the initial values x(-d), y(-d), x(-d+1), y(-d+1), ... , x(-1), y(-1) is an element of (0,+infinity) with d = max{r, m}.
