A novel way of fabricating CE/Si3N4 composites with excellent mechanical and dielectric properties

摘要

Cyanate ester resin (CE)/silicon nitride (Si3N4) composites with high fracture toughness, strength and excellent dielectric properties, were fabricated by pressureless sintering and infiltration. The composites possessed excellent mechanical properties. The fracture toughness and strength of the composite are 4.2 MPa m(1/2) and 233 MPa respectively. The composites possess low dielectric constant and loss at all measured frequencies. The composites density, which was affected by the porosity, pore size and distribution of the preforms, has great influence on the moisture absorption. High fracture toughness, strength, low dielectric constant and loss of the composites can meet the requirements of the communication equipment.
