Amphipoda and Isopoda were sampled in 40 Tunisian wetlands, and their fauna were compared at four different types: lagoon, sebkhas, dams and hill reservoir. At each station, eight quadrates of 50x50cm were randomly placed. Amphipoda and Isopoda were collected by hand. They were identified to species level. At each station, analyses of organic matter, sodium, calcium and heavy metals content from the soil collected in each station were performed. We recorded 19 and eight species for respectively Isopoda and Amphipoda and caught 3,035 specimens in total. The highest isopod's species richness (11 species) was noted around hill reservoirs and dams, a quite similar richness in the banks of lagoons (10 species) but only six species in the sebkhas. Eight amphipod species were recorded in the supralittoral zone of lagoons, three species around sebkhas but no amphipods were found in samples from dams and hill reservoirs. Isopod species richness was positively correlated with soil humidity. However, the distribution of the species Orchestia mediterranea, Orchestia gammarellus, Orchestia montagui, Orchestia stephenseni and Platorchestia platensis was related to soil metal concentrations.
Resume Les Amphipodes et Isopodes ont ete echantillonnes dans 40 zones humides tunisiennes et leur faune a ete comparee au niveau de quatre types differents: lagune, sebkha, retenue de barrage et lac collinaire. chaque station, huit quadrats de 50*50cm ont ete places au hasard. Les Amphipodes et lesisopodes ont ete collectes a la main. Ils ont ete identifies au niveau de l'espece. Des analyses de la matiere organique, du sodium, du calcium et des metaux lourds provenant du sol collecte dans chaque station ont ete realisees. Nous avons identifie 19especes d'isopodes et huit especes d'amphipodes pour un total de 3,035 specimens. La richesse la plus importante en isopodes (11 especes) a ete notee autour des retenues de barrages et des lacs collinaires, une richesse assez semblable au bord des lagunes (10 especes) mais seulement six especes dans les sebkhas. Huit especes d'amphipodes ont ete identifiees dans la zone supralittorale des lagunes, trois especes autour des sebkhas, mais aucun amphipode n'a ete trouve dans les echantillons provenant de barrages et des lacs collinaires. La richesse specifique en Isopodes est correlee positivement avec l'humidite du sol. Cependant, la distribution des especes Orchestia mediterranea, Orchestia gammarellus, Orchestia montagui, Orchestia stephenseni et Platorchestia platensis est liee aux concentrations en metaux lourds du sol.
