摘要

The present paper gives a brief introduction for a powder metallurgy forming technology with low costs and high density/high velocity compaction (HVC). The features, principle, key technology analysis, properties and application prospect of HVC are mainly illustrated. It is pointed out that HVC has special advantage in forming high-density (7.4~7.8 g/cm3) and large P/M parts (up to 5 kg), and it can offer multi-impacts. So the continuous breakthrough in its application is expected due to its high property/cost ratio and the ability to produce very large parts by moderately sized machine. Meanwhile, some problems now and research focus in the future are also pointed out.
