摘要

Enzymatic oxidation of the phenolic hydroxyl groups of lignin can enhance its auto adhesion ability. The impact of laccase treatment on the strength of an unbleached kraft pulp was investigated. The result was that the wet tensile strength of the pulp treated with laccase alone and laccase in the presence of isolated lignin increased up to 40% and 57% respectively compared to the control hand-sheet. The dry burst strength and tensile strength did not show significant increase. The effects of the treatments on the apparent density of the softwood kraft pulp were minimal. No change of the pulp strength was observed, as the treatment temperature increased.
