摘要

This paper proposes an novel disparity-map-based rendering (DMBR) method to provide consumers with depth-preserving 3D services. The bit-rate for the transmission of additional data stream is strictly limited in current terrestrial-digital multimedia broadcasting (T-DMB) systems. Consequently, depth images are compressed and transmitted using lossy compression techniques, and thus undesired depth distortions occur because of coding artifacts of the lossy compression techniques. Therefore, we propose the DMBR method for realizing depth-preserving 3D services in mobile 3D TVs. The proposed DMBR method is implemented in our mobile 3D TV, and creates depth preserving and realistic 3D auto-stereoscopic images effectively.
