Ferroelectric ceramics of Bi4Ti3O12 (BTO), Bi3.25La0.75Ti3O12 (BLT), and Bi3.15Nd0.85Ti3O12 (BNdT) were synthesized using the solid-state reaction method. All ceramics were possessed of a single phase of Bi-layered perovskite structure. The influence of La and Nd doping on the P-E hysteresis was investigated. The values of remanent polarization (2Pr) were 12.4 μC/cm2 for BTO, 23.8 μC/cm2 for BLT, and 39.4 μC/cm2 for BNdT, respectively. The Pr increased with La and Nd doping while the leakage current density decreased. These results indicated that La and Nd doping can largely improve the ferroelectrics properties of BTO ceramics, while the Nd doping was more effective.
