A new approach for preparing polymer macroporous materials

In this paper, we present a new approach to prepare the macroporous polystyrene (PS) film. Novel PS macropore arrays were successfully fabricated for the first time by the method of solvent evaporation of the polymer solution in a hierarchical anodic aluminum oxide (HAAO) template. In our study, the optimum conditions were that a droplet of 20% PS solution was placed on the HAAO template and immediately heated up to 220 degrees C for 3 min under the atmospheric environment The creative HAAO template-assisted method also provides a new means to prepare the macropore arrays for other soluble polymers.
