摘要

The appearance of round-like alumina powder prepared by vitriol salt were characterized by X-ray diffraction and scanning electron microscopy and the effect of the appearance on the transparent alumina microstructure was researched. The results show that the alumina powder is α-Al2O3with round-like trilateral structural micro-crystals;no γ-Al2O3was observed. The specific surface area of the powder has a greater effect on shrinkage. When dry press molding is used, powder with a lower specific surface area is preferable to stabilize the microstructure of transparent alumina ceramic. The size of the crystal grains of the ceramic is related to the specific surface area of the powders.
