Analysis of hydrological processes with non-linear methods

This paper presents the results of the analysis of a selected non-linear hydrological process using two non-linear methods and two standard statistical methods. The process studied was the daily discharge of the Krzyworzeka Stream, a tributary of the Raba River, which is, in turn, a right-bank Carpathian tributary of the Vistula River (Poland). The results obtained not only allow a proper understanding of the dynamics of the investigated process, but also proper selection of the means of modelling and methods of description. Similar research could be conducted for other geophysical processes that, in addition to random features, display deterministic behaviour and non-linear dependencies. The way the methods work is presented in a broader context using the example of three typical processes, in order to demonstrate both methods.
