The reaction of Zn(ClO4)(2)center dot 6H(2)O with TPA and H(4)THBQ in methanol gave air-sensitive crystalline powder [Zn-2(mu-H(2)THBQ)(TPA)(2)](ClO4)(2) (1). An equimolar reaction of 1 with 1,4-benzoquinone (BQ) in acetonitrile under Ar atmosphere quantitatively produced 1,4-hydroquinone and [Zn-2(mu-RHOD)(TPA)(2)](ClO4)(2) (2) as a result of the 2H( ), 2e proton-coupled electron-transfer (PCET) reaction.
