摘要

Paddy straw was treated with 4% urea at 60% moisture level and white rot fungi (Pleurotus ulmarius) in polythene bags. After 17 days half of the fungal treated bags were removed from fermentation room, sampled and air dried for further use. Fermentation continued on other half of bags after mushroom was harvested in 7(th) week. Urea treated bags were opened on day 30(th) of incubation, sampled and air dried for further use. Chemical analysis of untreated, urea treated and fungal treated straw was conducted. Crude protein content of paddy straw increased significantly (P<0.01) in treated straws, however there was decrease in cell wall components of paddy straw. Twenty male Corriedale sheep of 14-16 month and 22-24 kg body weight were randomly divided into 4 equal groups and fed ad libitum either untreated paddy straw, PS (T-(1)), urea treated paddy, UPS (T-(2)), fungal treated paddy straw before mushroom harvesting, FPS (T-(3)) and fungal treated paddy straw after mushroom harvesting, HPS (T(4)) along with 100g concentrate mixture. Digestibility coefficients and TON were significantly (P<0.05) higher in T-(2). whereas in T(3) and T-(4) DCP content was higher than T-(1) and T-(2). However digestibility and intake of T-(4) were significantly (P<0.05) decreased. Nitrogen balance was higher in treated straws.
