摘要

As a key problem of vibration-based damage detection, many damage indexes were developed in recent years, but a systematic and effective method to evaluate those damage indexes has not been available till now. Therefore, a new assessment method including damage indexes sensitivity to stiffness, robustness to noise, ability of correct identification based on incomplete information and capacity of indicating locations of damage precisely is proposed here to reflect various main problems in damage detection for guiding to choose the proper damage index. The numerical example results show that conclusions drawn from the proposed method as a priori way are consistent with the conclusions of the previous study, which means it is reliable. This assessment method containing four indexes to quantify characteristic of indicators is intuitive and effective for structaral health monitoring with all main factors considered.
