摘要

The adsorption and initial oxidation on polycrystalline zinc have been studied by EELS and AES line shape techniques. During oxygen exposure, two zinc species which are related to pure zinc and ZnO have been detected by the Zn LMM and Zn MNN line shape. Using the O KLL line shape, it is possible to distinguish the adsorbed oxygen from reacted oxygen during oxygen exposure. From the AES and EELS investigations, we can conclude that the ZnO film which is formed during oxygen adsorption and initial oxidation exists in isolated islands. The surface structure and properties of ZnO films is different from that of pure bulk ZnO.
