摘要

Gelatin based nanocomposite film has been developed with incorporation of silver nanocolloid as the filler. The nanocolloid has been synthesized using aqueous leaf extract of Centella asiatica, an abundantly available medicinal plant in North-East, India. The transmission electron microscopy (TEM) images show that as-synthesized nanoparticles are almost spherical having average diameter of about 15 nm. Thermo-gravimetric and textural analysis indicates that increase in concentration of silver nanocolloid in the composite film increases thermal stability and decreases tensile strength of the film, respectively. Presence of elemental silver in the film was confirmed through x-ray diffraction (XRD) study. Whereas, scanning electron microscopy (SEM) results indicate the uniform texture profile of the composite film upto 2 mM AgNC concentration. The fabricated nanocomposite film shows good antimicrobial activity even up to 90-days. This nanocomposite film is thus expected to find potential applications in packaging industries.
