摘要

When approached to present "A Retrospective View of Mixture Experiments" at the 2010 Fall Technical Conference (FTC), I was happy to do so. Why? Because I have been retired as a former member of the faculty of the Department of Statistics for 7 years and I had the opportunity to speak in front of many friends on a subject that has been part of my life for 45 years, since 1966. Following the invitation to speak, I looked up the meaning of retrospective in my copy of Webster's Dictionary to find that retrospective means "to reminisce or re-experience past events." In other words, I was asked to look back over the past 55 years or so of published research on mixture experiments and share my thoughts with friends, many of whom were in the audience at the FTC and others who will read this article in Quality Engineering.
