摘要

The composition of CuO-oxidation products of lignin in a sediment core (DBL1; 15.84 m) collected from Lake DaBuSu (44 degrees 49'0" N and 123 degrees 40'0" E), northeast China, has been used to reconstruct changes in catchment vegetations as well as in local hydrology and climate. The vertical profiles of lignin phenol ratios show changes in terrestrial plant composition during Holocene sediment accumulation periods. Diagenetic changes in sedimentary lignin after deposition are minor. Molecular distributions of lignin phenols indicate that the sources were a mixture of different plants and mostly dominated by nonwoody plants. Lignin phenol vegetation index (LPVI) reflects three major changes in the catchment vegetation, likely controlled by the variability of monsoon over Northeast China.
