Solvent deasphalting process is an effective pretreatment upgrading technology for vacuum residuum. The rational use of the de-oiled asphalt with high softening point needs to be solved when the process was applied to upgrade the residue oil. Preparation of the hard paving asphalt with low penetration by adding a certain proportion of high softening point de-oiled asphalt to the commodity 70# paving asphalt was investigated. The performance and The feasibility of the preparation 50# paving asphalt with high softening point de-oiled asphalt has been also discussed. The experimental results showed that the properties of the blend asphalt were changed in different extent with the different proportion between 70# paving asphalt and high softening point de-oiled asphalt. The rheological behavior tests showed that the anti-rutting performance of blending asphalt could be improved due to the addition of de-oiled asphalt. The qualified 50# paving asphalt could be prepared from the de-oiled asphalt and the commodity 70# paving asphalt with the appropriate blending ratio.
