摘要

During the last years the number of laparoscopic procedures has been increasing in veterinary medicine. One of the most important benefits is that it is less painful compared to conventional approaches. Significant changes in cardiovascular and respiratory physiology occur due to pneumoperitoneum and positioning of the patient. Therefore, laparoscopic procedures can be challenging for the anaesthetist. Potential life threatening complications as hypotension, pneumothorax, air embolism and hemorrhage may occur more often compared to conventional approaches. Positive pressure ventilation and close cardiovascular and respiratory monitoring is mandatory during laparoscopic procedures. To decrease the influence of the pneumoperitoneum, the intraabdominal pressure should be less than 15 mm Hg.
