Let R be a prime ring of characteristic 2 with d a nonzero derivation of R, L a noncentral Lie ideal of R, a is an element of R such that a[d(u), u](n) is central, for all u is an element of L, where n is a fixed positive integer. Then a = 0 unless R satisfies S(4), the standard identity in 4 variables.
