摘要

The structure of chitosan has abundent -NH2 and -OH, so it has good adsorption ability for heavy metal ions. As a kind of natural polymer, the adsorption properties of chitosan are affected by its physical form, the source of the raw materials, the degree of deacetylation and the pH value of the system. Therefore, to improve the adsorption properties and to expand its application range, it is an essential method to modify its physical and chemical properties of the natural chitosan. This paper reviews the progress on the modification methods of the chitosan and the adsorption behavior of its derivatives to the heavy metal ions. The perspective of the chitosan derivatives used in the treatment of heavy metal contaminated water is also discussed.
