摘要

The instability of pigments in naturally green cotton results in easy discoloration during processing and home use, thereby influencing its development. This paper reports a novel treatment method for improving the color stability of naturally green cotton. The treatment uses petroleum ether as the finish or solvent to extract the naturally green cotton for 12 h at 70 degrees C. The treated naturally green cotton can be improved in both thermal stability and lightfastness. Ethanol extracts from naturally green cotton were analyzed by gas chromatography-mass spectrometry (GC-MS). The results indicated that treatment with petroleum ether can remove certain components which may be detrimental to the color stability of naturally green cotton.
