摘要

Hydroxyapatite coatings were thermally sprayed on the Ti6Al4V alloy substrate. Antimicrobial properties were obtained by immersion of the coatings in changing concentrations of silver nitrate followed by thermal treatment. To assess antibacterial and antifungal efficacy, the materials were challenged against hospital isolates using a modified Kirby-Bauer method. Cytotoxicity to human osteoblasts was studied by observing changes in the cells morphology, viability and proliferation as a function of the AgNO3 concentration.
Physicochemical evaluation showed that silver was successfully deposited on the surface of bioceramic material and biological assessment indicated that good antibacterial and antifungal properties were combined with lack of cytotoxic effect on the human osteoblasts for the materials obtained from the solutions containing <= 1 mmol/L of AgNO3.
