摘要

A new species of Austrostrongylus Chandler, 1924 (Nematoda: Trichostrongylina: Herpetostrongylidae), A. papuensis, is described from the small intestine of the scrub wallaby Dorcopsis hageni Heller, 1897 from Papua New Guinea. The new species is distinguished from congeners by the poor development of teeth in the buccal capsule, by the dissymmetrical nature of the bursa, the arrangement of the bursal rays and by the presence of only four rather than six to seven ventral ridges in the synlophe. It is the first species of the genus to be reported from Papua New Guinea.
