Album makrianum C BRULLO, S BRULLO, GUISSO & SALMERI is described as a new species growing on limestone slopes of Mt Pilineon on Chios, a north-eastern Aegean island (Greece) A makrianum is characterized by hairy leaves (blades and sheaths), glabrous and unilateral spathe, glabrous tepals, no interstammal teeth and densely tuberculate ovary The species is a very rare autumnal geophyte, showing some relationships to A archeotrichon from Rhodos Its morphology, chromosome number (2n=16), leaf anatomy. ecology and taxonomy are examined
