摘要

In this study, red mark syndrome (RMS) in cultured rainbow trout was confirmed for the first time in Iran. RMS or cold water strawberry disease (CWSD) is a non-lethal skin disease of rainbow trout (Oncorhynchus mykiss) that is temperature-dependent, with up to 60% morbidity at water temperatures below 15 degrees C. Macroscopically, affected fish displayed the appearance of bright red, usually raised, non-ulcerative between 5 mm to several cm in diameter, usually on the flank of the fish. Histologically, there was lymphocyte infiltration into dermis and the connective tissue surrounding the muscle bundles of superficial muscular layer. No particular infectious agent as the cause of the RMS in our cases was identified.
