摘要

The contact angle is an important structural parameter and it has a greater influence on load distribution, kinematic relation and life of the rolling bearings. In this paper, a new stable numerical method is presented, which is a modified form of the Harris method to find the change in contact angle in a statically loaded single-row, angular-contact thrust ball bearing, subjected to a known thrust load. In order to validate the results a finite element model was also developed to find the change in contact angle and the results were well agree with each other. We have established a new numerical method in which the number of iterations, computational time and the storage space for programming get decreased than that of the Harris method. We have demonstrated through graphical results the absolute and relative errors due to the method presented in this paper and get decreased exponentially as load get increased, which shows the method is stable.
