Automated Digitization of Analog Information Using Optical Transmission

摘要

This paper describes an automated detection of analog signals from digitized optical images. The current trend of research methodologies proposed on optical transmission, optical imaging and signal recovery algorithms are also highlighted. The optical transmission of analog signals and its digitization observed in tests conducted on an experimental setup is presented. The system is based on an optical transmitter which samples and transmits the analog signals to the digital camera thus preserving the digitized images. The analog signals of 2 V peak to peak amplitude at frequency range of 1 KHz-50 KHz is applied and its dynamic range of output 2 V-4 V is measured using 1 metre length of optical cable. The digitized optical data is processed using MATLAB software. Further, the study has helped us to understand and research the processing of optical data under the point of view of experimental and simulation approaches. The advantages, problems and its future scope are discussed. The intended future application is to transmit multiple analog signals through multimode fiber over a distance of 100 meters with minimal distortions.
