摘要
An electromagnetic bandgap (EBG) surface is utilized as a ground plane for a curl antenna to achieve a low-profile design as well as a circularly polarized pattern. The antenna height is greatly, reduced compared to a normal curl antenna over a PEC ground plane. The frequency bandgap and ground plane size are discussed. Experimental results demonstrate the applicability of this concept.
